De claim, zoektocht naar roofkunst uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog

Documentary, 2016, 90 min.

Can the restitution of a painting that was stolen during the war relieve the trauma caused by Auschwitz? This question is raised in this documentary about the Dutch Restitutions Committee, which advises on claims to art stolen by the Nazis. The methods of the committee are shown on the basis of two cases about allegedly stolen paintings that currently hang in museums. The film follows the claimants and the people investigating the art theft in World War II, and provides a glimpse of committee meetings. Archive footage brings to life the war and the following years.
