Pluk van de Petteflet

Feature film, 2004, 94 min.

Film with singing, adapted from Annie M.G. Schmidt's famous stories from 1971. The film opens with animated drawings by Fiep Westendorp that turn into real people. With his red breakdown lorry, eight-year-old Pluk drives onto a brightly-coloured setting. He is looking for a house to live in and via Dolly the pigeon from the Torteltuin, he ends up in the vacant turret room of the Petteflet. When the landscape architect wants to convert the Torteltuin, which the children are so fond of, into a bird museum with lots of parking space, the animals are at a complete loss and enlist Pluk's help. He saves the last nesting site of the allegedly extinct bird, the krullevaar. All animals in the colourful film are animated plush dolls. Awarded as a Platinum Film in 2004.
