De verdwenen personages van Han Bentz van den Berg

Short documentary, 2002, 54 min.

Han Bentz van den Berg is a legend in the theatre world. Not only because of his countless successes as an actor and artistic director of the Nederlandse Comedie, but also because of the way he eventually left the stage. The famous Aktie Tomaat in 1969, directed against the theatre establishment, heralded the end of both his career and his life. Documentary maker and unconditional fan Hans Keller made, together with writer and son Roel Bentz van den Berg, this tribute in two parts to a great actor. A choice selection of Dutch theatre celebrities, critics and writers - among them Ellen Vogel, Willem Nijholt and Harry Mulisch - step into the limelight to bring the prematurely deceased master back to life. Includes beautiful black-and-white excerpts from recorded plays and subdued and touching comments by Roel and his sisters Brenda and Mirjam.
