De verwording van Herman Dürer

Feature film, 1979, 105 min.

First feature film by the First Amsterdam Film Association, a production company that Van de Velde founded in 1980 with René Seegers and Leon de Winter. The film is adapted from Leon de Winter's book. Protagonist Herman Dürer, staying in a juvenile detention centre, gets inspired by Joseph von Eichendorff's book From the Life of a Good-for-nothing. Once released, Dürer turns his back on his narrow-minded parents, steals some money and hitchhikes to the south. But his journey ends in Munich, where the good-for-nothing is robbed of all his ideals.
