Mart Stam, de architect - Leven en werk (1899 - 1986)

Documentary, 1996, 79 min.

Documentary portrait of the Dutch architect Mart Stam. He was not just an architect but also furniture designer and educator. Throughout his long life, he often worked abroad, for instance in Germany and in the young Soviet Union. His best-known design is the often-imitated tubular steel chair. His consistent left-wing attitude meant that Stam was often almost crushed between the millstones of history in his life. His amazing life knew fame, adventure and lonely isolation.
