Serengeti Symphony

Documentary, 1998, 75 min.

The Serengeti National Park in Tanzania has a larger number and range of animals than anywhere else in the world. Against the background of different exceptional landscapes, and the changing seasons, the nature film Serengeti Symphony largely shows the similarities in the behaviour of elephants, lions, hyenas, giraffes and many other animals. Image and music go hand in hand and the narration has been reduced to the minimum. The pictures, in Cinemascope, show various animals that all bear young, play, eat, drink, bathe and fight in their own way. As well as natural sounds, music by Laurens van Rooyen accompanies the rhythmically edited pictures.
