Independent Boy

Documentary, 2017, 90 min.

The young filmmaker Vincent Boy Kars takes all the decisions for his indecisive friend Metin for a month. As a first step, he forces him to live on his own for a month. Far from his mother, with whom he has a perhaps too intimate relationship. To what extent is a human life feasible, the filmmaker asks himself. Metin is in his twenties who does not know what to do with his life. According to his friends, he is smart and creative, but does not bake anything.

Significant is the contrast between Metin and the cheerful youth leaders of the scouting group where he was a boy. Or between him and his teacher of the climbing wall, who teaches him that you have to think about where you are going, plan your steps and grips against the rock wall. But plans are not Metin's thing. He wants people to think about what a successful life means. Recognizable film for millennials, but also for everyone who has ever been in his twenties.
