De stille plaag

Short documentary, 2000, 53 min.

Every year, malaria claims two to three million victims, particularly young children in rural areas of developing countries. The pharmaceutical industry is looking for remedies to neutralise the effects of a malarial mosquito bite. Still, their search does not seem to be all that urgent. The director tries to find out why the international community does not take concerted steps to put a definitive halt to malaria, just like numerous other diseases have been halted. Awarded the Best Science film Award 2001.
