Birth of the Western, Holland 1903

Short Film, 2004, 15 min.

This tribute to what is considered the very first western ever (The Great Train Robbery, 1903, Edwin S. Porter) takes the spectator back to an early 20th century café in Rotterdam, owned by widow Goeman (Tamar van den Dop). The widow runs the café at a time when little dogs jumping through hoops no longer attract any clientele. But Jake Porter (Thom Hoffman) with his living photographs makes the bar fill up again. Goeman seizes the opportunity.
