Immer Fernweh

Short documentary, 2011, 41 min.

Portrait of East-German artist Johanna Kaiser. After turning sixty, she began working as a self-educated painter in the 1970s: vividly blooming fantasy flowers and dreamlike landscapes expressing a never fulfilled desire for distant places, as a kind of reverse nostalgia. Excerpts from her diary are read by renowned actress Ursula Werner. Complemented with shots of her paintings and quotes from relatives and acquaintances, the five chapters of the film portray a passionate woman.
