Paviljoen 7

Documentary, 2010, 90 min.

Once again, a client is handed over to Paviljoen 7. Since he was eight, he has been obsessed by self-made stabbing weapons. Nobody can be turned down from the toughest ward of the national crisis centre for prisoners in severe psychic distress. But the legal measures are particularly drastic here. To administer medication to an extremely violent man, staff members storm into his cell in ME outfits. As quickly as possible, they withdraw again, every action aimed at preventing accidents. Every new prisoner wears a spit mask and is awaited by a host of staff members. The worst incidents and violent outbursts stay off-screen, although they are sometimes addressed in team meetings. Still, the threat is constantly palpable in the staff members' behaviour. While the camera often zooms in on their faces, the prisoners have been made unrecognisable. Interviews or comments by the filmmaker have been left out.
