De roze wolk

Documentary, 2008, 79 min.

In The Hague, the gay couple Patrick and Edward live next door to the married lesbian couple Iris and Manon. They are friends and all four want to have children. And why should you not, if you fancy your own sex, have your own family? Edward: `I also want to be able to extend my line, leave something behind.'
In the Netherlands, more than 20,000 children have homosexual parents. Since anonymous donors are illegal, it happens more and more that lesbian couples ask a (gay) friend or couple not only to be a donor, but also actively play the father's role. And this is exactly the plan of the two couples from The Hague. We see them doing a pregnancy test, at the first ultrasound, in their daily activities and furnishing the two baby's rooms. They describe extensively how they envisage the care for the baby and who will be the biological parents and why, and that they will all be mothers and fathers. Even Patrick, who has only been together with Edward for ten months, so he is not very close to the girls yet.
