Het alfabet van de angst

Short documentary, 2015, 55 min.

Portrait of the Romanian-German author Herta Müller, who received the 2009 Nobel Prize for Literature. She was extolled for her ability to describe 'the landscapes of people lacking a fatherland’. As a member of the German-speaking minority in Romania, she hard-handedly met with Ceausescu's state terror. Currently living in Berlin, she makes collage poems revealing a playful fantasy. But the bewilderment and fear from her prose also underlie her verses. A trip to the sources of Müller’s work.
