De illusie aan de macht - 1412 dagen kabinet Den Uyl

Documentary, 1999, 111 min.

Two-part documentary about the history of the Den Uyl cabinet between 1973 and 1977. Based on interviews with former ministers, the film sketches a picture from the inside of one of the most controversial teams of ministers in Dutch parliamentary history. Ministers and Mps from that era talk on camera about how decisions were made in the many crises that the Den Uyl cabinet faced. For instance, the former Minister of Justice Dries van Agt talks about the dramatic debate caused by the Moluccan train hijack in 1977 in which Den Uyl himself was one of the few to oppose military intervention, the Lockheed Affair is discussed and Lubbers (then minister of Economic Affairs) looks back at the oil crisis of 1973.
