Nice to Meet You, Please Don't Rape Me!

Feature film, 1995, 71 min.

Film shot in Johannesburg about three rapists who gradually change character. Against the background of the first democratic elections in South Africa, the film is an unconventional investigation of a society characterised as a rape culture. The film shows South Africa as a land in which rape - sexual, verbal, political, moral and psychological - is a normal phenomenon. Three rapists - a Black, a Jew and a Briton - move between fantasy and reality and, despite themselves, reveal the demons that torment them. Paradoxically enough, Kerkhof's brutally harsh film is also an ode to love. A film about rape, dying, forgiving to love and living to be born again.
