AIDS the Woman's Story

Documentary, 2004, 65 min.

Aids is an international disaster both for its immediate victims and for society in general. The documentary AIDS The Woman's Story takes a close look at the question of why AIDS prevention has not become a national issue in many countries and how using structures of power and influence can make a difference in the fight.
AIDS the Woman's Story travels to Kenia, Brazil and Thailand telling the personal stories of women with AIDS and how they have rebelled against reigning cultural and religious traditions and have assumed control of their own destinies.
Set against a backdrop of disease, poverty and social subjugation, these are stories of courage and will power in the battle to improve and strengthen the position of women in society. Although these women have moved mountains at the local level, AIDS the Woman's Story clearly shows there is still much to be done internationally.
