Crepuscule

Feature film, 2009, 70 min.

'Crepuscule' is the transition from dusk to dark. The leading character is a beautiful young woman in the twilight zone between dream and reality. The backdrop is the big city, which is initially shown in two panorama shots, and the girl's apartment. Outside her house, she is shy and reticent, but in the sheltered space of her house she dances naked like an alluring diva on high heels in front of the mirror. She feels pursued by a mysterious older man and plays with a shining revolver.
This highly stylised film, without dialogue and with a jazzy soundtrack, was photographed in dim black-and-white. Images of a rain-drenched tram ride, the frying of an egg, a deserted construction site, the gutting of a herring or the activities in a car wash are all imbued with foreboding disaster. The fact that what happens in the protagonist's head contrasts with her concrete environment makes Crepuscule into an oppressive spectacle.
