In the attic, eleven-year-old Merel comes across a picture of her grandma with a handsome, long-haired man: Mehmet. Her mother wants to have nothing to do with him, but grandma spills the beans: this moustachioed Turk is Merel’s biological grandfather. The idea keeps haunting her. Together with a Turkish boy from her street, she starts looking for him. They meet all sorts of people and end up in various adventurous situations. Meanwhile, Merel finds out that true family is nearer than she thinks. Light-hearted youth drama with women playing first fiddle.
