Het Laatste glas melk

Lang Televisie Drama, 1995, 75 min.

Television play based on the authentic wartime memories of the writer Eli Asser. The film tells the story of a male student nurse who worked in a Jewish institution for the mentally ill at the time of World War Two. When all the patients and staff were due to be taken to concentration camps, the nurse wonders whether his duty is to accompany his patients. The young nurse's conflict of conscience is examined through a series of conversations and confrontations with a schizophrenic patient who is about to die of syphilis. While the nurse does not yet know what he'll do, the dying man realises what is going on.
