Singer-songwriter Daniel Lohues from Drenthe performed with his band SKIK at the outdoor Pinkpop and Lowlands festivals. His big dream is to play at the North Sea Jazz Festival with his own blues band -, in the Drenthe dialect. To realise this, Lohues travels to the mecca of the blues, the Mississippi Blues Delta. He meets extraordinary people there, like pop hero Tony Joe White, who composed famous hits for Elvis and Tina Turner, and the ancient blues legend T Model Ford, who to his own surprise sings the blues along with Lohues in the Drenthe dialect. By trial and error, the Lohues & The Louisiana Blues Club arises. Next, they travel from 'poor' Louisiana to 'poor' Drenthe and to the fulfilment of the long-cherished dream, the international North Sea Jazz Festival. Apart from a musical adventure, the film also presents a portrait of a striking musician struggling with his chocolate addiction.
