The eighteen-year-old Alban is an outsider. He is short-tempered and has already completed several schools. He prefers to hang on the roof, his refuge. Alban lives with his Albanian mother Zana in Amsterdam. Zana has a war history but her traumas are deeply hidden away. Earning a living and keeping Alban out of trouble mean enough distraction. That Alban is getting into a Serbian girl is no problem for the teenagers, but an encounter with her parents threatens to turn Zana's world upside down.
