Dreamlife

Feature film, 2020, 100 min.

In a deep cave, from a deep sleep, a geologist wakes up in an infinite dream.

Émile Serif, the protagonist, descends into a cave. A team of two scientists has previously set up a laboratory and a camp in the cave. During the descent and search of Serif to the camp, the cave is depicted as an inhospitable and inhuman landscape; underground, cold and miserable.

During his underground stay, Serif begins to sleep longer and to dream more intensely. The viewer is taken into the dream trip of Serif, which mainly takes place in and around the cave. When Serif can no longer distinguish his dreams from reality, dreams and reality also flow smoothly into each other for the viewer. While Serif slowly enters a permanent hibernation, the basic camp worries about Serif's condition. His colleagues decide to take Serif from the cave via a rescue mission and carry him outside where he experiences daylight for the first time in months. Serif wakes up, but it remains unclear whether he awakes in reality or in a subsequent dream.
