Een tragisch ingrijpen

Short documentary, 1997, 45 min.

In A Tragic Intervention, film-maker Hans Polak investigates one of the most difficult subjects in the history of the Dutch resistance, namely the liquidation of Jewish refugees by the resistance itself. Of more that 20,000 Jewish refugees, several dozen were shot. Some because they were considered 'dangerous', some because in despair they threatened to betray the resistance. Many who became involved with the resistance for the best of reasons were not prepared for tense situations. Without imposing a moral judgement, the documentary allows several people involved to speak out.
