Dramatised story about the people in Tepito, a popular district in the heart of Mexico-City, who fight for their existence and manage to stand their ground despite corruption and political manipulations. In 1972, the City wants to redevelop the quarter, but the inhabitants manage to get a say in the plans. In the face of poverty and illiteracy, they make a remarkable counterproposal. This plan wins first prize at the Warsaw Biennale of Architecture. With his film, George Sluizer won a Golden Calf for the Specialist Prize Best Scenario in 1983.
