Feature film, 2009, 90 min.

A young woman is in a house in the centre of Amsterdam, but she does not feel up to the life outside. From her window, she spies on other people's arduous lives. She is alone with her fears and reflections; does she have the right to watch other people's misery and not interfere? Then, the phone rings. A man from Argentina has mistakenly dialled her number. An intense conversation between the two lonesome souls evolves. He, too, longs for a better life and explains that doing nothing against other people's unhappiness also has consequences. Despite the physical distance, their solidarity grows. During their long chat, the tragic life outside continues. Sometimes clear, sometimes vague, or oddly framed. Now and then, little happens on the screen. The water quietly ripples in the canal, while the discussion becomes ever more passionate. Other scenes consist of long gaps in the conversation, which gets increasingly revealing and makes the spectator reflect on his own life. Featuring Rutger Hauer and Georgina Verbaan, who previously played this role in the stage version of the same name.
