Als de giraffen komen - Waiting for Giraffes
The star act of the zoo in the Palestinian town of Qalqilya, the giraffe couple, has died during the last intifada. But the local veterinarian Dr. Sami will not take it lying down. With an unprejudiced approach and jaunty comments from the people of Qalqilya, this documentary follows this optimistic go-getter in his attempts to bring in new giraffes. Although he is supported by an Israeli zoo in Jerusalem, Dr. Sami stumbles across numerous obstacles. Because, as a PR employee of the zoo moans, everything is politics here.
