Nou, dat was het dan!

Documentary, 2005, 90 min.

At the 2005 Cannes Film Festival, film producer Ruud den Drijver and director Paul Verhoeven met each other again. Twentyfive years earlier, in 1980, the still very young Den Drijver, film writer at the time, locked horns with the two most famous Dutch filmmakers: Wim Verstappen and Paul Verhoeven, passionate filmmakers. This meeting was captured by filmmakers Dick Rijneke and Mildred van Leeuwaarden. The footage was stored and forgotten. In 2004, Wim Verstappen passed away and Paul Verhoeven, who returned to Holland. The footage was traced and revised. The result is a hilarious time document. When Den Drijver speaks Verhoeven again in 2005, the latter is still as explicit as before. Candidly, he talks about the imperialist neo-conservative politics of the United States, the country he lives in, and about the situation in Hollywood. Nou, dat was `t dan! is a portrait of a passionate movie director.
