Mensen van toen

Short documentary, 1997, 50 min.

For his film Generation 1964 filmmaker Gilles Frenken allowed himself to be inspired by the film Tomorrow's People that Kees Brusse made in 1964 and in which he interviewed thirteen young people about their lives and their dreams. In Generation 1964, Frenken tries to reconstruct why Brusse's film has such a unique place in film history: there are few films that caused so much controversy. With the aid of archive material, an interview with maker Brusse and conversations with people who worked on the film at the time, Frenken brings the past to life.
