Single play about the special friendship between two very different women. Kit and Emma have known each other since their youth. While Kit had completely different ambitions, both started working as social workers after graduating. Emma married a womanizer and Kit had the child she could not get. After living together for eighteen months Kit left and the friends lost touch. Sporen in het zand shows how the two women met again sixteen years later through the Salvation Army, where Emma is social worker while Kit is a tramp. In the days that follow, Kit confronts her friend with events from the past. The question of who is helping whom soon emerges.
