Documentary about three Mozambiquean women who fought in the war of liberation against the Portuguese (1964-1975). When filmmaker Ike Bertels looked at a BBC documentary in the Seventies about Mozambique, she was struck by three guerilla fighters who told how happy they were to be members of Fremilo. In 1984, almost a decade after liberation, she looked up the women and asked them about their political and personal struggle. Ten years later, on the eve of the first free elections in Mozambique, Bertels again went to Africa and talked to the veterans about their lives now, their ideals and the end of an era. Three portraits of independent women, with pictures of three moments from their lives.
