9 Days - From My Window in Aleppo

Short documentary, 2015, 13 min.

One morning in August 2012, the Syrian photographer Issa Touma sees students pile up sandbags in his street. This turns out to be the beginning of the uprising in the city of Aleppo. Touma gets out his camera and captures the first nine days from his window. In the process, he films his neighbours leaving their houses and the quickly intensifying battle. He also captures the consequences the conflict has for him personally: he can’t leave the house, his food runs out and he loses his internet connection.
