George Vlaicu, anti-Stalinist journalist and writer, accepts to work for the Securitate, the Romanian secret police, in order to gain his freedom and to be published. All his life, George - the renowned poet, the dissident, the loving husband, the attentive father - will have to reconcile with the George he despises - the informer, the George who betrays all the rest.
