Film adaptation of the book by Hendrik Conscience about the violent resistance of West-Flanders against the French domination at the start of the 14th century. The ruthless battle seems to end in a loss for the Flemings, when suddenly a Golden Knight appears. He gives the exhausted Flemings new courage and leads them to victory: the glorious victory at the battle of the Golden Spurs.
