Two thousand stills fine artist Gerco de Ruijter edited for his stop-motion film, taking American football as his theme and formal inspiration. The rectangular grid of the football field determined the framing of the animation film. After De Ruijter’s editing, satellite images collected from Google Earth form an abstract series of images with familiar elements: the striking green grass, the typical lines and the many symbols belonging to the visual culture of this famous American sport.
