Nicaragua September 1978
Award-winning documentary about the political and economical situation in Nicaragua during the civil war between the population and Sandinista guerrillas on the one hand and dictator Anastasio Somoza and his followers on the other. Diamand talks to the inhabitants of working-class areas who have fallen victim to the ongoing repression by the army. But also to a general who thinks his army is compelled to exert repression to prevent more bloodshed, and to Somoza, who wants to eradicate all protest. The film also reveals the involvement of the United States in the Nicaraguan dictatorship.
