Robocop
Feature film, 1987, 103 min.
Violent science fiction film situated in futuristic and criminal Detroit. Police officer Murphy is shot to pieces by a sadistic gang. In the battle against crime, an ambitious company uses his body for an experiment. Equipped with a programmed brain, the policeman is brought back to life as a monster; half man, half robot. The technological tour de force appears to be successful, until Murphy's human brain gradually starts seeping through the computer code and the policeman wants to take revenge on his assassins. Verhoeven's great breakthrough in Hollywood had a number of sequels and a TV series was made out of it.
