My Face Is Eating Me Alive

Documentary, 2013, 45 min.

My Face Is Eating Me Alive (45’) tells the emotional story of a young Zimbabwean girl, Tare, and her ultra-determined mother, who sacrifices everything to save her daughter from slow suffocation. Tare and her mum spent over a year travelling their country to find someone who could tackle the relentlessly growing tumour. They had no luck. It seemed certain that the condition would eventually take Tare’s life. Then, finally, they found someone who could help. A British surgeon offered to operate on Tare free of charge. This feel good film details the love of a mother who refused to give up, and the dedication of a doctor who rose to the challenge.
