Marga Minco - De schaduw van de herinnering

Short documentary, 2010, 53 min.

'You don't need experiences to write. It is just good luck if you have had experiences.' This sounds like a huge understatement coming from the mouth of Marga Minco, who was the sole surviving member of her Jewish family in World War II.
When the war broke out, Marga Minco (1920) was a journalist and columnist for the Bredasche Courant. In this short documentary, Marga Minco talks about this, about her authorship and the actual events that underlay her oeuvre. In her study, she illustrates the story how she escaped deportation with photographs and documents, while she navigates between perspective and emotion and occasionally has to admit she gradually starts muddling her literary work and her memories.
A sober but touching portrait of the then 90-year-old Marga Minco, writer of Het bittere kruid, who could not keep the war out of her work.
