Feature documentary about the kingdom of the Netherlands during WWII. While Holland was at war, the East Indies were occupied after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The West Indies; Surinam and the Dutch Antilles remained free territory within the kingdom. This story focusses on the detention camps in the West Indies, including interviews with eye witnesses. With segments based on the book "The Detention Colony" by journalist Twan van den Brand, who colloborated on this film and made several of the interviews. Coproduced by VPRO/Geschiedenis TV.
