Zipcode - Wounded Knee

Short documentary, 1973, 48 min.

In 1890, an uprising of Native Americans against the American government near Wounded Knee was brutally quashed by the 7th Cavalry. The battle led to the massacre of three hundred Indians. To commemorate the revolt and demonstrate that little had changed since then, a group of Indians occupied Wounded Knee in 1973. Kiers went to the town, which was surrounded by FBI agents, and made a portrait of the Indian community.
