Voor Allah en vaderland

Short documentary, 2011, 50 min.

A million Muslims live in the Netherlands, but there is not a single party that gives them a political voice or face. Whereas religion is now a key issue in the political debate. This is why Henny Kreeft, a Muslim since 1990 and married to a Moroccan wife, founded the Nederlandse Moslim Partij (NMP). Kreeft is a former LPF member and used to be a local councillor in Emmeloord for the ONS (Our New Society). His ambition is to turn the NMP into a national party.
The documentary follows Henny Kreeft from the snap local elections in 2009 in PVV cradle Venlo until after the local elections in 2010. He pays a visit to his parents in Gilze-Rijen, distributes flyers with his wife in Emmeloord and has meetings with the executive committee in lacklustre rooms. It is quite a task to arrange competent people and financing. After the disappointing results of the local elections in 2010, tension soon mounts within the tender party. Will the NMP pull through?
