't Schot is te boord

Short documentary, 1951, 19 min.

Shot as part of the Marshall Plan, this film depicts the tough work of Scheveningen fishermen. On Flag Day, their ship sails to the Doggersbank where the net is put out. Working in unison, the European fishermen track down schools of fish. The dynamic film shows the hauling in, mainly by hand, of the bulging net, the processing of the fish on board and the return trip across an ever rougher sea. Awarded the Grand Prix at the 1952 Cannes Film Festival.
