Moving out - Robert Frank Reframed

Short documentary, 1995, 14 min.

Short documentary about the life and work of the photographer and filmmaker Robert Frank. Shortly after WWII Robert Frank, a young Swiss photographer, left for America, where, within a few years, he established himself as a reporting photographer. His photobook The Americans, in which he reports of a journey through the United States, makes him a celibrity in the mid 1950's. At the height of his career, Frank turned his back to success and made series of features and documentaries together with friends as Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg. In the 1970's he left New York to devote himself to making auto-biographical photo-collages in a remote place in Canada. In the documentary Moving Out, filmmaker Gilles Frenken follows into the footsteps of the photographer.
