Political thriller in which Loach provides a critical view of the British Army presence in Northern Ireland. An American lawyer who comes to investigate the situation in Northern Ireland for a human rights' organisation is shot. An inspector investigating the attack is confronted by many contradictions in the way the British says its Army operates and his observations of what they actually do.
