Summer in the Golden Valley
This Bosnian-French-British-Slovenian co-production shows a group of loiterers and their hopeless dreams of becoming rich and happy, while being stuck in Sarajevo without having any perspective. When Fikret's father dies, it appears that the latter had run up a large, previously unknown debt. Honour compels that the debt is paid before father can rest in peace. Subsequently, Fikret starts consorting with dubious company and ditto practices to gather the money.
Winner of the VPRO Tiger Award and Moviezone Award at the 2004 International Film Festival Rotterdam. Summer in the Golden Valley was screened at the Netherlands Film Festival 2004 as part of the section West Sees East.
