Thank to the mathematical formulae of a Belgian scientist, every policeman in the United States is now able to discover the identity of a suspect or find out if someone is sought for a crime through the fingerprint. This has made the FBI a powerful factor again in combatting crime every day. Searching images and surfing the net also use formulae conceived by Ingrid Daubechies.
