Both Ends Burning
Two women meet in a church. Their physical contact begins as a caress but ends in a fit of aggression, which destroys any remaining semblance of support.
Raina (Esther Eva-Verkaaik) embarks on an affair with the tortured Nick (Bart Klever). The compulsion towards excessive behaviour forms the nexus of their relationship. Isabelle (Eva Dorrepaal) is bound up in a lifeless marriage. The two women meet in a church. Their physical contact begins as a caress but ends in a fit of aggression, which destroys any remaining semblance of support.
Brienen’s first independently produced feature is suffused with an atmosphere reminiscent of French cinema of the 70’s, but also contains bone-chilling moments that recall Carrie and Repulsion.
