World wide there is a growing tension between economic activities, population growth and the environment. Fortunately, a growing number of people is working to seek possible solutions. In the film Beyond Development, two people ANNETTE P. MANASALA from the Philippines, who hopes to work on a project on poverty and ANTHONY A. DUAH from Ghana who works on the problem of severe drinking water shortage in Ghana, wants to contribute to sustainable development in their own countries.
First we will get to know them during their training in the Netherlands where they acquire the necessary knowledge to find creative solutions for the problems that they have to solve in their respective countries. The film relates to the personal stories of the main characters: how their expectations, their idealism and the ultimate results conflict or complement each other. In addition Beyond Development shows how the main characters work with advanced techniques like aerial photography and geo-information systems in developing countries.
