In 1993, George Sluizer was making good progress with the shootings for Dark Blood, featuring big movie talent River Phoenix in the leading role. About eighty percent of the script had been shot when Sluizer's star actor died suddenly and very prematurely. The film reels ended up on a shelf. Years later, Sluizer was able to save the footage, which had been confiscated by the insurance, from destruction. By means of crowd funding and creative solutions in the editing room, Sluizer could finally finish his film with the promising young actor. The thriller revolves around a Hollywood couple that wants to celebrate their ?second honeymoon? with a trip across the desert. When their car breaks down and they are stranded in the arid and hot surroundings, they are saved by Boy (Phoenix). But the young recluse does not intend to let the couple go.
