glass dome

Eye-catching features of the super deluxe De Passage shopping centre are the large glass domes. The central one resides in the old part of the complex, the other by the entrance of the new modernist part. The ideabehind the design of both domes is that typical Dutch skies and clouds can be mirrored and projected onto the shops. Light and air, both literally and metaphorically, is the credo inside the Passage that was itself built based on Parisian principles, namely to accommodate the upper classes.
